This was confirmed during the meeting of the Grand Prix Commission in 2011 which took place December 14 in Madrid. In the meeting also discussed about the MotoGP rule changes, as well as issued an announcement which came into effect in January 2012.
The amendment regarding the number of tires that are available after the removal of MotoGP testing restrictions. Then turn on the obligations of the red light behind the bike during the race all wet (as in F1), as well as the minimum weight of 1,000 cc motor for the year increased to 4 pounds, and the presence of nine CRT - plus a replacement - which has been accepted for the MotoGP season 2012.
The CRT team rider who has been confirmed and has been announced is Colin Edwards (NGM Forward Racing), Randy de Puniet (Aspar), Aleix Espargaro (Aspar), James Ellison (PBM), Anthony West (Speed Master), and Michele Pirro (Gresini ). The other three and the reserve is Ioda Racing team, BQR, Grillini Team, and Team Laglisse.
All teams that are in addition to 12 teams from the factory, which means MotoGP next season will be followed by 21 riders. As for the 2011 season and then, "only" followed by 17 riders (all from the factory team, and satellites).
